Department of Law, Britannia University arranged an Intra-Departmental Parliamentary Debate Competition-2019 with aim to enhance debate skill among the students. Teams from different batches participated in the event and two teams named Gitanjaali and Agnee Bina qualified Final Round which has been held on 29th July, 2019. And this prescient event was presided by the honourable Vice Chancellor, Britannia University, Prof. Tofail Ahmed, PhD. The gracious presence of the respected Dean, School of Law & Chairman, Department of Law, Dr. Md. Milan Hossain as a Session Chair made the event more privileged for the current students. As judges, the event was facilitated by Abu Bakare Siddiq Masum, Lecturer, Department of Law, Cumilla University; Asma Akter, Lecturer, Department of Law, Britannia University and Kazi Shaha Paran, Adjunct Faculty, Department of Law, Britannia University. Rasel Ahmed, former student of Law Department (Former President of BULC) was present as an honourable speaker of the session and respected faculty member Mr. Md. Motasim Billah, Lecturer, Department of Law, Britannia University was playing the role as an Adviser of the program.
Each team comprised of four members and the parameters on which the competition adjudged were the clarity of their legal reasoning, eloquence, confidence and their team effort. It was indeed a commendable performance by both the teams. The Agnee Bina team ( Redwan Ahmed, Milkan Hossain Pranto, Shafiul Islam Shafi and Tanveer Khandaker Regun) bagged the first position in the competition and Mahasweta Das ( From Spring’18 batch) became the best speaker. Our heartiest recognition goes to both the teams and hope they will continuously upgrade their level and skill.
It was an enriching experience for the students to listen to the valuable speech and directions from Prof. Dr. Tofail Ahmed, PhD, the honourable Vice Chancellor, Britannia University, and other eminent judges.
