(1) Waiver/Scholarship During Admission [*Applicable Only For Undergraduate]

1.1 Merit Based Scholarship:

On the basis of both SSC & HSC results:
*50% waiver for total GPA 10.
*30% waiver for total GPA 9.00 to 9.99.
*20% waiver for total GPA 8.00 to 8.99.
*10% waiver for total GPA 7.00 to 7.99.

*05% waiver for total GPA 6.00 to 6.99.

*For any exception, Scholarship Committee reserve the right to take any decision.


1.2 Sibling/ Family Scholarship:

Ø  When two siblings (sons and/or daughters of the same parents) and husband-wife study simultaneously at Britannia University, the second sibling/spouse is entitled to a 50% tuition fee waiver. However, both must be admitted full-time into regular programs and both the sibling/husband-wife must study within the normal study time (the stipulated time for completing a degree) required for the programs for which they are enrolled. The benefit commences on the date of admission of the second sibling/spouse and ceases on the discontinuation of the study of any one of them in Britannia University.

Ø  A minimum CGPA of 3.00 is required to be maintained in all the semesters. If a student fails to achieve the required CGPA, s/he will be allowed for a tuition fee waiver only for the next ONE semester, within which s/he will have to regain the required CGPA, otherwise scholarship will be discontinued.

Ø  Only one of the students from siblings will be eligible for this scholarship.

 

1.2 BU Scholarship:

Ø  100% tuition fee waiver is awarded to the children of Freedom Fighters. Students need to provide all certificates relevant to Freedom Fighters (e.g., Gazette copy, Lal Muktibarta, Shamoik Shonod, Bamus Shonod and others if applicable) along with a copy of his/her father’s NID. All applications will be verified for authenticity from the concerned Ministry website. The awarded amount will be adjusted after due verification.

Ø  Up to 100% tuition fee waiver is awarded to physically challenged and economically poor condition students on a case by case basis, to be determined by the Scholarship Committee.

Ø  Tribal students will get additional 10% tuition fee waiver after proper verification of certificate(s) from the concerned authority. Required documents: Birth certificates/ Citizenship certificate, Parents national ID card, Certificate from the local Upazilla Chairman/UNO.

Ø  Special Waiver for National Level Players/ Artists/ Actors/Journalists etc.

Ø  BU employees or the first blood relatives (children/sibling/spouse) of regular and full-time employees of BU will get tuition fee waiver. Employee must complete his/her probation period to avail this scholarship.

 

(2) Performance-Based Scholarship [*Applicable Only For Undergraduate]

>> All students of BU will be eligible for 05-35% waiver for their outstanding result in each academic semester (up to 12th consecutive semester from the admission semester). (*Terms and Conditions Applied)

CGPA 3.90 - 3.94 : 20%
CGPA 3.85 - 3.89 : 15%
CGPA 3.80 - 3.84 : 05%

§  The application with own hand-writing along with required documents need to be submiited to the Registrar’s Office through Department.

 

§  The Copy of Birth Registration Certificate/NID, Student ID Card, Transcript of the previous semester, Payment Receipt of the Current Semester Registration need to be attached with the application form.

 

§  Applicant have to pay at least 50% of the Current Semester Tuition Fee and Complete the Course Registration.

 

§  This Waiver will be applicable to the Regular Course Registration only (Retake/Improvement/Recourse registration will not be counted in this process)

 

§  This Waiver will apply for next academic semester credits not greater than previous semester credits. (For example, if any student completed 10 credits on 1st semester then he/she will be eligible for waiver on next semester not more than 10 credits.)

 

§  If a student is eligible for more than one category of Scholarship/Financial Aid, only the higher one will be adjusted.

[For example, if any student already availed the waiver less than/equal 50% (for example, Freedom Fighter (100%) etc.), then higher one (they already availed) will be counted. In other cases, the total waiver will not be greater than 50%.]

§  Incomplete and/or Incorrect application will not be accepted.

N.B.: For any exception, the Authority reserves the right to take any decision.


֍ Rules and Regulations regarding Waiver and Financial Aid

  1. If a student is eligible for more than one category of Scholarship/Financial Aid, only the higher one will be adjusted.
  2. Scholarship is not applicable on Non-Tuition Fees (i.e., Admission Fee, Registration Fee, Education Development Fee, Improvement, Retake/Recourse fee etc.).
  3. Documents Required for Scholarship/Financial Aid/ Tuition Fee Discount: TIN Certificate of financial guarantor, financial guarantor’s bank statement, salary certificate / business trade license, latest academic transcript of the student.
  4. If a student fails (F) in any subject(s), s/he will not be considered for tuition fee waiver for two subsequent semesters. However, s/he will be allowed to re-apply with proper documents in the next semester with required CGPA.
  5. Tuition fee waiver is not awarded on retake/repeat subject(s). The student is required to pay for the retake/repeat subject(s).
  6. Students having “Incomplete (I)”/Pending (P) grade in a semester will be enlisted for Scholarship/Financial Aid in their current semester but have to pay for all the courses until s/he obtains the required CGPA after “make-up” or grade submission. His/her waiver will be reimbursed/adjusted in the next semester.
  7. Students, suspended/penalized for disciplinary reasons, may not be eligible for scholarship/financial aid for the remaining academic period at Britannia University (starting from the date such decision is made).
  8. If any Scholarship/Aid recipients withdraws/drops from registered course (s), and his/her credit falls below minimum requirement, the aid/scholarship will discontinue. However, if the drop/withdraw is for any severe medical/physical condition, the student needs to apply to the Financial Aid Office through Dept/Faculty . Such student may be allowed to continue with less credit taken in a semester as a special case for one semester only.
  9. Scholarship Committee may change the policy and eligibility criteria from time to time based on the availability of funds. The Scholarship Committee will make its endeavors to give advance notice of changes.
